A Nephrology Channel article states: "Most AIN is caused by an acute allergic reaction to a medication, including antibiotics and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)..." and lists common drugs. This article can be found at http://www.nephrologychannel.com/ain/index.shtml
As far as Acute Tubular Nephritis, MyClinicalNotes says "ATN is characterised morphologically by destruction of tubular epithelial cells and clinically by acute loss of renal function" but I can find no source citation. myclinicalnotes.com/kidney/acute-tubular-nephritis. Another definition (without a specific source) states AIN is a kidney disease characterized by acute onset, a decreased renal function and microscopic changes mainly located to the renal interstitium (edema and/or infiltration of white blood cells). Follow this up with a check of a medical encyclopedia at your local library.
