It could be a case of schizophrenia. A professional evaluation will certainly be able to tell... and there are a few clinical tests that will show schizophrenia.

It might seem like there are more prescribing of drugs for schizophrenia, but it's like some people "noticing" global warming or when you buy a new car. When you focus on something, you start noticing it more.

The diagnosis for schizophrenia has been around for a good amount of time and is one of the more easy mental disorders to diagnose. It's GREAT that they are prescribing drugs for those diagnosed (Lithium is supposed to have very good results) since it is one of the more clear cases of chemical imbalance.
