I am not a neurologist or neurosurgeon. I am an RN with a theory. First of all there is something wrong with you - some of your symptoms cannot be "faked".
It sounds as if you have Vitamin B12 deficiency, an anemia causing decrease in red blood cells which carry oxygen. You said you are taking Prilosec for acid reflux. Long term use of medications for heartburn and ulcers can lower the amount of stomach acid produced. Normal amounts of stomach acid (and other GI organs) are necessary for th absorption of Vitamin B12 from food. Decreased acid will interfere with that process and result in low blood levels of B12.
Long term use of these meds can result in severe symptoms. Chronic B12 depletion can alter DNA synthesis and cause various neurological problems. It can alter the myelin sheath, fatty covering of the nerve cells, in the cranial, spinal and peripheral nerves which is basically your entire nervous system. This can result in:
- numbness and tingling in arms and legs
- poor balance, difficulty walking
- confusion
- diarrhea/constipation
- sexual dysfuction
- poor visual acuity (sharpness)
- weakness of the limbs
- etc,etc
These are not the only symptoms, it depends on the person. This is only a theory of mine. If you have had no luck with neurologists I would go to an endocrinologist and discuss the possibility of vitamin or mineral deficiencies.
Good Luck!!!!

I don't honesty believe anything is wrong with you if you have been to see more than two or three doctors and none of them have any clues as to what's wrong with you. Doctors go through years and years of training to become licensed. They don't just pop out of a vending machine. I have a friend who says the same thing, and the truth is, she's a big hypochodriac and she loves getting sympathy and attention from people that don't know the truth about it like I do.
