Different ways to use a Wacom tablet?
Can I use the Tablet PC software with a Wacom tablet? Is it worth it?
I currently have Windows XP and a Wacom tablet. Is there any software that will offer features found in the Tablet PC software, i.e. hand writing recognition, os navigation, scrolling, etc.

If you plan on using any Tablet PC software it really makes sense to move to Windows Vista or Windows 7. There is built in support for the operating system for inking. The main difference between using a Tablet PC and a Wacom tablet is that where you are writing is disconnected from where you are looking when using a Wacom tablet. On the flip side, a Wacom tablet, even some of the low end models, are more sensitive than a standard tablet pc when it comes to levels of pressure sensitivity and ability to detect the angle of the pen to the surface.
The bottom line is you can use Tablet PC software with a Wacom tablet. Is it worth it? If you can afford the Tablet, it is the better choice, but if money is the biggest concern a Wacom tablet can get you by but it takes much more practice to use efficiently.
For handwriting recognition, typically it should be limited to search and OneNote provides excellent functionality. For OS navigation Windows Vista / 7 provide support for pen flicks which make navigating with a pen easier.
