Which exercise routine is healthiest for me? What burns the most calories? (details below)
I have asthma, so I tend to get very winded if I jog or run for too long. My current practice is to half-jog, half-walk for 40 minutes, meaning that I start out jogging for a few minutes, then slow down, then speed up again when I can. If I don't do that I can do a power-walking thing for an hour or more. My question: Which of these burns more calories and what his healthier to keep as part of my exercise regiment?

That's a good start, but I'm really looking for a comparison of the routines and which helps burn more calories and has more benefits over time. I'm also not sure that powerwalkersworld is the most trustworthy resource. They don't have any sources for those four benefits they promote. Who are these people?

That exercise regiment is good. Jogging absolutely burns calories. In addition to the legs, the arms, shoulders, back and core are all being worked while jogging. This high amount of body use takes a lot of energy and causes a significant calorie burn. I think what you need to watch is your diet. Exercise is useless if you have unhealthy diet. According to an interview for my podcast that I did with a exercise expert (Jayson Hunter), doing intervals was his suggestion of the most effective way to let go of of the lbs. You can set up intervals even if you have asthma.

The best workout without needing even a gym are: 5 sprints for 30 seconds each, 3 sets of lunges (25 each), 2 sets of 20 regular and tricep pushups, 2 sets of 30 situps and then stretch. This was our routine when I played Division 1 NCAA Golf. I promis you'll be sore.

According to http://www.healthstatus.com/cgi-bin/calc/calculator.cgi, 20 minutes of high impact aerobics and 20 minutes of walking at 4 mph burns 349 calories for a 190 lb man, the average weight of a US man. An hour of walking at 4 mph burns 444 calories. Therefore walking for an hour is better than jogging/walking for 40 minutes.
