It's like any form of exercise; you'll only see results through regular use. I think the Wii Fit is definitely a good fit for the person that you describe: someone who doesn't want to go to a gym, but needs the structured workout that the Wii Fit provides.

Wii Fit is like any other exercise program--you need to actually do it. Buying the box, even hooking up--won't help you lose weight. I have a friend who's a personal trainer, who uses it in her business, particularly with remote clients--and it works--if they use it.
