No.
There is a good argument that FDR and his New Deal succeeded in bringing the United States *out* from under the depression it was in.
Commonly referred to as The Great Depression this depression is labeled at both ends with the years 1929 as the beginning and 1939 as the end.
Frankiln Delano Roosevelt was elected in the fall of 1932 and within days of his inauguration in March of 1933 his New Deal was starting to take shape.
The New Deal and Roosevelt's presidency ushered in many reforms including banking reform laws, work relief programs and agricultural programs among many others and even cultural programs.
Not without his critics, Roosevelt had his own "Glenn Beck" named Charles E. Coughlin, an American catholic priest who after supporting the President early turned and used his right wing radio program to unfairly criticize President Roosevelt and his programs.

It is widely accepted that the programs initiated by the New Deal were responsible in part for retrieving the United States from the depths of the Great Depression.
