Is depression a disease or an illness?
answers (4)
According to this medical article, it's an illness. It's really a difference between treating the disease, where the focus is just on the disorder itself, and focusing on the whole patient--the "illness" model, which has also been called holistic medicine.
"Whereas disease defines a pathophysiologic process, illness is defined by the complete person—physical, psychological, social, and cultural. Illness represents an individual's unique and personal experience of being unwell."
In treating depression effectively, all the aspects listed above have to be considered. So by this definition, it's an illness.

This wasn't a yes or no question. The asker is giving you two options. You could have ansered "both or none". But yes or no is not a good answer, it is not even relevant. You still have time to edit your answer and make it a really good one.
Depression is a illness ,..meds like zoloft, cybalta ,relieves the symptoms
Would you care to cite your sources? How do you know these medications (which seem to be comercial names, not the actual drug) work?
It's a state of mind. You can bring yourself out of depression. Same can't be said of cancer or AIDS.
