Who makes the best dental floss and why? It's not one of the most appealing questions, but you sometimes wonder about it.

I found it interesting that the average person buys 18 yards of dental floss annually, and the amount of 122 yards (figuring one foot a day) is what should really be bought. After reading this fact, I'm looking to go out and get myself some more dental floss today. However, with so many different brands and products on the market, I usually get lost and just get the basic kind, rather than the most effective (maybe they are just marketed to be more effective). I am wondering if it makes a difference if you use waxed floss, flavored, etc. or if there is a superior kind that's proven to work better than your daily run of the mill floss. Since a lot of junk gets stuck in my teeth, and I need to get it out.

I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who can convince me that one brand of dental floss is better than the other. I'm not looking for those water flossing systems or anything electronic, unless you can otherwise prove to me why an electronic flosser is superior. I'm seeking out the best actual floss itself from personal experience, to reviews, with pictures and video if available. Also, why do you think it's the best?

In a nutshell, this is why I like Butler Eez Thru dental floss
(plain or mint not important, but mint is more tasty)

It is most unpleasant if you have some tight teeth spaces, and every other floss no matter how thin, or how waxed to be smoother or how fine, they all get stuck and don't move leaving pieces of threads hanging. It just looks bad, but the sensation is worse.

Remember what it feels like to get something like raw carrot stuck firmly between your teeth? except you have these two threads hanging down like a moustache. And it feels weird enough that you want to rush to an emergency dental appointment except it takes 6 months to get an appointment with your dentist. And you don't want to trim off the ends because then you may not be able to find the ends to get it out and who knows where loose short dental thread can end up - can it slide up your bones and gums until it reaches your brain?.

And you try but are afraid to pull because it feels like your teeth will come out
before the floss - it is jammed in so tightly! So, you can't smile any more.
You can't enjoy your food because your teeth don't have enough room between them to chew properly. You can't drink from a straw for six months......so you suffer for days until it accidentally comes out, then when watching TV or something boring, your hand automatically keeps busy and grabs the wrong kind of floss - and it starts all over again! except maybe this time much, much longer.......

If you scroll thru the American Dental Association Buying Guide for Butler products, some of them have the star marking the ADA Seal of Acceptance, but not Eez Thru floss.
Never mind, it shows that some of their products have been approved, but the Eez thru floss is still a great product for narrow spaces between your teeth.

Butler eez thru search from amazon.com mint and plain floss in bulk $32.19/72

I found other Eez Thru products but not the floss. Maybe they won't make it any more and now that I have found the perfect product for me I'll need to buy it in bulk for life before it is discontinued everywhere. Isn't that what happens when you find something you like? Just watch for the white, eight sided little plastic box on the store shelves - while you still can!

Most times, branding makes it popular and becomes the best products by consumers but it does not mean to me the BEST ever product for your body and health! As a consumer myself, I'm keen on natural ingredients, chemical-free or something green & safe products.

1. By Dr. Ken's (I haven't seen a review on one of the sites but maybe worth a try on his product and leave a review there.)
Ingredients: Beeswax, Peppermint Oil, Green Tea Extract, Nylon Floss

2. Eco-Dent Gentle Dental Floss:
http://www.eco-dent.com/product%20pics%20jpeg/Gentle-Floss.jpg
1.It's treated with enzymes.
2. 14 natural essential oils.
3. 100% vegetable waxes. No beeswax.
4. Nylon
5. Clean Mint taste.
6. 100 yards per pack - 300% more floss than other brands
5. Biodegradable package not plastic

Happy hunting Easyeboy...at the end it's your own choice! Wait, what's the use of techie world...everything is online!

I honestly think that it depends on your teeth. My teeth are tight together with no/very little space in between them. As such I can't comfortably use most dental floss. It is actually a little beyond uncomfortable as it takes a certain amount of force to get regular dental floss to move between my teeth. This has led to lacerated gums when I get a hygienist that doesn't listen. Anyway I use Crest's Glide Comfort Plus. It moves easily between my teeth. If your teeth are wider spaced, a thicker/fluffier? dental floss might be more appropriate for removing food particles. I suppose that this is one of those things that most people do not think about, unless they have an issue. I suppose I have issues. :-)

Do not buy your floss by the yard. How much floss is really wasted when you wrap it around your fingers? Instead try out the Crest Glide Floss Picks. They come in 20 or 30 packs.

** You can floss with one hand. Simple easy to use.

** The Glide Floss Pick helps make flossing simple. The unique
design combined with Glide Original Floss slides easily
between your teeth and resists shredding.

** Allows you to floss even between teeth in the back of your mouth.

** Patented tension-control design allows floss to surround the tooth surface for cleaning power.

** Allows you to floss even between teeth in the back of your mouth.

** Effectively removes tough plaque between teeth and just below the gum line.

I like Cleure because it is developed by a dentist. Who should know better?

Dental Tip for the Day:
"If you don't floss, you could be leaving up to 40% of the surfaces of your teeth untouched. Make flossing part of your proper oral hygiene routine for healthy teeth and gums, and prevention of bad breath. NO flavor and salicylate-free. Lightly waxed. 55 yards"

Why salicylate-free?
"Salicylates (pronounced sal-e-se-late) are natural chemicals in plants. They are also used as one of the main ingredients in aspirin and other pain relieving medications. Many personal care products contain salicylates as one of their ingredients. Some products contain salicylates in the chemical form or in plant ingredients that are included in the formulation. For example, a product that contains herbs, may not list the word “salicylate” on the label, but may contain salicylates because they are a natural chemical in herbs."
