I found my geek in statistics class. But I know friends who've found theirs at science fiction cons, gaming clubs, Linux club meetings, and even (gasp) church/religious services!
There are lots of geek gatherings throughout the week. Check out Meetup.com http://www.meetup.com/ (specifically the Internet & Technology section - http://www.meetup.com/topics/technology/ ). It's your geek buffet, you can even figure out what kind of geek you like most.
Oh yea, and many of the guys at these meetups are very successful geeks.
How about computer forums in general. I am a member at MacNN for example (but I'm not single) or if you don't want a mac user or just want a larger pool of people the forums at arstechnica are also good.
The advantage of message boards like the ones I mentioned is that they almost always have a lounge forum where you can learn more about a person than just how geeky they are. I can't begin to tell you how much I have learned about politics, religion, science, art, cars, and everything else from reading the lounge at macnn.

To be honest, a friend of mine did this. Go to the executive level dating service and pay big bucks. You get what you pay for.
i have a great idea for skipping all the dating sites. check out the sierra club and all the events they host. they are a great place to meet other singles and even make friends. most of the people i have met are pretty "geeky" and interesting people.
Depends largely on the area, but in my experience (as a single geek guy) most of us like to drink. Bars can be ok, just look for the guys who are a bit quieter and a bit more reserved. Geek guys, being geeks, tend to be a bit more shy than normal fellows, so the problem isn't as much finding them as much as it is realizing that sometime you need to be the one that strikes of the conversation. Don't focus on attire either. All geeks don't dress like the stereotype. Many of us make good money, and tend to wear slacks, dress shirts, and nice shoes, instead of the stereotypical tshirts and bluejeans.

What kind of community events, societies, or organizations are you involved in? How about church, the YMCA, or work? The best way to find single guys is to go where you'll feel comfortable and confident; don't be afraid to be yourself.
Some very odd replies here; if you are looking for a geek guy the last places to look would be a church or YMCA. Few or none would be in those sort of places. Best would be online, or at conventions or clubs where geekish hobbies were celebrated. Strategy/board/computer game clubs (which are sometimes at hobby shops but often at colleges) would be an effective choice. If you don't mind the dropping the handkerchief ploy (or modern equivalents) geek guys are also found at computer, stereo, and book stores. In a big book store you might even get him to buy you a coffee. Remember, geek guys are shy and not socially adept, so they are sitting ducks for those few women who like them. But they don't take hints or often make advances, so the gal has to do the social stuff.

Browse events on upcoming.yahoo.com for groups and events of a geeky nature. In fact, you should check out events of any type that you're interested in on there. It's a great way to meet people with common interests.

Getting your geek guys
After spending all this week amongst teacher geeks at the BETT show (see Andrew and Virals photos of the show). The BETT show is the biggest education show on this planet, and it's amazing to see the variety of attendees. IT's so different from a technical show. People from all walks of life, from education ministers (UK and abroad), ICT onsultants,. teachers and users.
This photo is of the lovely Alex talking about how they use IT and SharePoint at his school in Birmingham. See the architecture of Olympia in the background which olooks rather like St Pancras doesn't it? Victorian architecture is wonderful isn't it?
I've been wondering about how many of these geeks are single after one particularly unsettling and weird encounter on the technical answers desk. So I scrolled around and I've found this girly guide to getting your geek (if you want one ladies) which goes through some useful tips about where geeks hang out and where you can meet them.
Of course the best way to meet a geek dude is through the Internet. All geeks harbor a secret fantasy about meeting some girl in cyberspace, carrying on an e-mail romance in which he has the chance to combine an activity he is comfortable with, computing, with one he is very uncomfortable with, socializing. To many geek dudes, cyberdating is just an advanced form of some kind of video game, but they are frustrated by a lack of players.
I've got an easier solution perhaps. Move to Redmond (or anywhere in the silicon valley area)which has the highest number of single people I've ever seen. Must be all that working in individual cubicles and offices that stops them interacting with each other.

If you're able to take math past calculus, I'd also recommend taking a higher math class. Easier math classes are patently filled with non-geeks that beat up on geeks.

If there's a game store in your neighborhood that has weekly events/open gaming that could be a good place. I know in my area (Pasadena, CA/Los Angeles) there's a place called Game Empire that has something going on every night. D&D, boardgames, miniature games, Magic...always a lot of single looking guys at this stuff though they're usually pretty focused on their games.
You could also check Meetup.com for local get-togethers for whatever more specific kind of geekery it is that you're interested in.
I guess it all really depends on what kind of geeky guy you're looking for.

My college, the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. There are tons of single geek guys here (unfortunately, I'm taken). If you're a little too old for that demographic, then your best bet would be conventions, small computer stores, LAN gaming centers, and small coffee shops.

If you want serious geeks - the ones who actually have geek fu, and aren't just wannabes - you might try going to computer conventions like IETF and Usenix, and maybe Macworld. You don't need to pay to get in - just go hang out in the hotel bar.
You'll have to approach them - they probably won't approach you. And they'll be weirded out, and may seem distracted, because they're actually there on business, so your best bet will be to winnow your way into a cluster and participate in the conversation, rather than trying to separate one from the herd right away.

Heres a really effective, easy to implement, short answer, that will have them finding you. Put a Linux bumper sticker on your car and wait for the comments. When one of them asks you about it at a stoplight, tell him you only put it on there to meet geeks. If he doesn't think that's funny and interesting, hes probably not worth it. Good Luck.

So looking for there is not really much of a trouble. But I bet its hard to find a geeky and hunk at the same time....:D
