For a female, the best place to look would be a brewpub (brews their own beer) or beer bar (that's one with 12 or more craft beers or imports on tap - mass market brands don't count). Why? Here are some reasons:
1. Less females go to them than males, so your odds are improved.
2. The guys you meet will be relatively upscale (to afford these more expensive beers) but not snooty like wine drinkers.
3. You will look better to them, because they are drinking beer. (confirmed by a Scottish university study).
4. They will look better to you, because you are drinking beer.
5. But, unlike a dive or a liquor bar, there will be few people actually overdrinking and getting obnoxious.

Not only that, but if you don't meet anyone, at least you'll have a few good beers! And most of these places serve good food too.

ps Don't go to a brewpub or beer bar and order wine or cocktails. Then the guys will figure you are a bad match.
