How important are your tastes in pop culture to romantic compatibility?

Just like demanda, I'm a pop-culture junkie, too, though, so if I do ever happen to meet someone who actually loves 80's pop/rock and House as much as me, I'll be head-over-heels instantly.

It is not Important, But Your Heart is ! If you both have a caring and Loving nature You will have a Great Relationship. You can compromise On Cultural and Artistic Differences as long as you have respect for the other ones needs and Love being with each other and Share Quality time together .

I think the importance of pop culture taste varies from person to person, or relationship to relationship. Personally, I would say it's pretty important, but I am somewhat of a pop-culture junkie. However, for me, it's not really about the person sharing the same pop culture interests, but rather, about them having interests that don't annoy me. For example, I don't think I could ever date someone heavily into Star Wars or rap music. I don't have anything against Star Wars or rap at all, but generally, people who are overly interested in either annoy me. I think the ideal situation involves sharing enough of the same interests to keep things fun, and yet, having enough differences to keep them interesting as well. It would suck if my husband and I didn't share some of the same taste in music and movies because that would make going out for movies and concerts less fun for one of us. We don't have the same taste in TV shows at all, but it's never an issue because we just go in separate rooms or compromise. I actually enjoy the fact that we don't have the same taste in books because that always fun to talk about.
