Now that the reserves have already been called up, I give it better than even odds that Israel will occupy at least part of Gaza.

What is the name of the current dust-up in the Gaza Strip?
Has the media given this particular war a name yet?
If not what would you call it?

As special as the current media makes it out to be, the current events in Gaza are not so special as to warrant a special name. Previous violent times, namely the first and second intifadas, were so named because they were uprisings. In this case, Israel is merely taking a more proactive approach to ending the rockets. There has been more use of planes, artillery, etc. and so more damage and deaths, but Israel does this type of operation on a smaller scale all the time. Now that the reserves have already been called up, I give it better than even odds that Israel will occupy at least part of Gaza.

Fox News (on Geraldo Rivera tonight, for example) and Israeli's Defence Forces are both referring to it as "Operation Cast Lead". Although these operations are not named officially by the media, but by the military...and subsequently repeated by the media. So that is the official name.
