IMHO, it really comes down to what circumstances come out during the trial. If she wants the publicity as part of some fetish or arrousal, then it won't make a difference and might even work in her favor. If they are after an outcry of sympathy due to some actions of the victim, then it could prevent the decision from being swayed. It happens often enough when public outcry can influence a judge. Though they are supposed to be impartial, they are still human.

The jury in Italy is not sequestered or questioned for their points of view to test for bias. In addition they can go home and read the news, watch tv shows etc. etc. Since day one there were negative sensationalized headlines and has helped to leave a very bad impression on the accused. Example the last post left use the words "If she wants the publicity as part of some fetish or arrousal"
Where would those harsh words come if not from a source of negative headlines. A few days ago a coroner testified that a knife which the prosecutors claimed to have Amanda's DNA on the handle is not the murder weapon.

What difference would live television cameras have made in the Amanda Knox murder trial?
She and her ex-boyfriend Rafaelle Sollecito are charged with the sex murder of their roommate Meredith Kercher. Kercher's body was found in 2007 in their shared cottage in Perugia, Italy. Fellow roommate Rudy Guede pleaded guilty last year and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Knox wants publicity: but the judge ruled to limit it. Is that likely to affect the outcome?
