I think the invention of the taser was a good thing for overall security, however local authorities should not be allowed to carry and use a potentially lethal device so liberally against people who aren't imposing life threatening danger upon the authorities.

Was Jack Cover's invention the Taser a good thing for law enforcement or not?
The Taser has undoubtedly cut down on the numbers of violent offenders shot during arrests; but do the deaths associated with the Taser outweigh that benefit?

I think that it is not a good thing. I think that since a taser is not considered lethal law enforcement officers that have them are more likely to use them. This subsequently increases the likelihood of a lethal or sublethal encounter and therefore causes more overall harm. I do not think that it is a good thing for law enforcement.
