Should Comcast be penalized for showing full-frontal porn during the Super Bowl?

If so, what should happen? A huge fine? A free month to all users effected?

funny jokes filled with puns about super bowl porn are acceptable. :-)

How about all those people who just got teased? 30 seconds? Maybe they should be sent the entire DVD or a coupon for their local massage parlor.

TMZ reports:

"UPDATE: Comcast just released this statement: "We are mortified by last evening's Super Bowl interruption and we apologize to our customers. Our initial investigation suggests this was an isolated malicious act. We are conducting a thorough investigation to determine who was behind this."

If Comcast is marking this one up to an "isolated malicious act", they are admitting that they were either compromised or a mistake happened.

I do think that Comcast should be penalized for their mistake either in security or trust. I think (correct me if I'm wrong), but the FCC will automatically fine Comcast for this event and carefully review what happened.

Personally, I think that Comcast should be forced to air PSA's across it's network for environmental or humanitarian causes. This loss in airtime wouldn't hurt the company but would expose it's error in the media and hopefully do some good at the same time.

With the Godaddy commercials sensationalizing porn, the company itself really can't be held responsible for the natural progression of advertising.

The only penalty should be losing any offended customers to other television providers.

These days such video switches are no longer rare. It is a result of the technology and the number of channels and the way they go through a single cable or satellite provider. It was different when each channel was a separate station with it's own broadcast equipment going out over the airwaves. If you don't like what you see change the channel, there's a hundred others.
