Apparently this truly was a "random act of senseless violence." The killer is in custody, he has confessed, and he said it was random...he saw her jogging alone and just forced her into his trunk. Maybe there will be more layers to his motive that will come out, but so far it's just that simple, apparently...

According to articles appearing in Puerto Rican newspapers today, the perpetrator had planned on abducting and sexually assaulting a woman that morning, and was roaming around a local high school for that purpose. He allegedly attempted to abduct a female student not only earlier that same morning, but also tried earlier in the week. Neither of the girls in question reported events to the police until after the crime was committed and the perpetrator apprehended, and they have refused to press charges. It was truly a case of Ms. Kuszak being at the wrong place at the wrong time. One has to wonder whether she would still be among us had one of those girls summoned the courage to contact the police, though I am aware that is easy for me to say.

Another chilling fact is that, per the newspaper article in El Nuevo Dia, the accused killer stated that taking a life was "easy," but he was disturbed to learn (after his arrest) that his victim had been pregnant. Truly a piece of work!
