Amtrak runs from Buffalo, NY to Newark, NJ via a layover of about 3 hours at Penn Station in NYC, NY. The trip is run twice a day on a regular weekday.
The entire trip takes approximately 8-10 hours depending on which of the two trips are taken.

You can drive, it's about 6 hours.
You can bicycle, it's about 30 hours.
You can walk. It's about 120 hours.
You can fly. It's about 1 1/2 hours.
Just listing for a sense of the distance. For cost, I'd estimate bicycling would be cheapest, unless you walk that long without sleeping or sleep in the bushes.
Safety, who knows? Everything is dangerous. Rail may be safest, but flying is close.

Is there a train service between Buffalo, NY and Newark NJ?
In light of the recent Buffalo Plane Crash incident, I wonder what is the distance between Buffalo and Newark? Would perhaps a train be a more suitable form of transportation for that distance? Or is it common for people to fly that short of distance, is that sustainable?
