It's tough, 36 years is a long time to serve for a mistake you made when you were 17...but it's not like they were playing around and one of them accidentally knocked her down and she hit her head and died. She had so many injuries (20-ish?) that added up...they would have had to keep hitting her despite her obviously being in great pain.
Even when drunk, functioning members of society don't do that, I don't think. 36 years is too long, probably, but not by all that much..

I'm not saying he shouldn't be held accountable, but its a tragedy that one life was lost, all this does as compound that problem x2.

Do you think that the sentences given to Lamar Roberts and Heather Maria Trujillo were fair?
Roberts and Trujillo were sentenced after pleading guilty to charges related to the death of 7-year-old Zoe Garcia. The case was dubbed the Mortal Combat Death by several news organizations.

36 years In my opinion is too many, this 19 year old (17 at the time) will not see freedom until he is 55 years old. This is under the assumption that the fella didn't mean to kill the kid, if he was just horsing around playing "mortal combat." I'm not saying he shouldn't be held accountable, but its a tragedy that one life was lost, all this does as compound that problem x2.
