Well this is a tough situation to really make a judgment on. One the one hand, the illegal immigrants weren't supposed to be in America, much less on his property, but they're still people and holding people at gunpoint just because they're on your property might violate some human rights.
But of course there's the issue of the fact that he had some of his property damaged, found some of his animals dead, and even had his house broken into, by these immigrants. While I think that might give him some more reason as to why he would hold trespassers at gunpoint, his actions, as accused by the immigrants, seem to violate some basic human rights.
I suppose there was always the threat that one of them might be hiding a weapon on their person, and he apparently also had found drug dealers (who one could imagine to be more likely armed) going through his land as well. Under all the circumstances, I believe he was in right to do what he did, and shouldn't have to pay up for any charges against him.

He has a right to defend his property and a right to detain criminals until law enforcement arrives. There is a line though, and he was warned and fined for his behavior before. I don't think he should have to pay, but he really needs to stop with the cowboy antics.

The biggest problem was that he really overstepped his boundaries. There are reports that he's proudly admitted to pistol-whipping people and kicking a woman while she was on the ground. He has a right to defend his property and a right to detain criminals until law enforcement arrives. There is a line though, and he was warned and fined for his behavior before. I don't think he should have to pay, but he really needs to stop with the cowboy antics.

I have researched and read everything I could find on this guy. I did not find these reports that you speak of. Please provide links next time you have a "bunch of sources." Thanks.

Absolutely he should NOT pay this ridiculous legal circus. It's extorsion! I sure wouldnt want strangers walking around my property talking in a foreign language leaving debris trails and whatever. Phoenix Arizona is the 2nd most cities in the WORLD for kidnappings! Huge ransoms are demanded. This is a no brainer. He should just shoot them and let the buzzards get rid of the carcasses.

$32 Million? NO. Should he be fined, YES. There has to be a better balance here just like he should have realized there was a good balance of keeping them at bay before authorities arrive, but NOT taking out his anger from the property damage on them by force.

Would you be angry if you captured thousands of illegals crossing your land every year for a decade?

This rancher is an American protecting his property, life and our country from these illegal invaders and the invaders must be made to suffer period! He acted correctly and anyone who says he broke some mysterious human rights law is a moron. He did not shoot these scum like he could have. The illegal aliens broke the law not the rancher. You wonder why America is slowly drowning in a social cesspool of our own creation just read some of these posts! Government educated Americans can not seem to understand laws apply to all not just American citizens. We need our Army at the border with shoot to kill orders! Too many anchor babies are living in our country and are corrupting our legal system by attempting to circumvent our laws and culture just to support illegal and criminal family members.
