We knew Aquan personally and my son attended school with him as well as played basketball and foot ball with him. He was incredibly sweet and smart. He always had a hug for me when he saw me. This was NO accident. The coat hooks in the bathrooms are too high for a child put himself onto and I know for a fact from family that he did not hang himself! Oakton has so many problems with their students and discipline as well as the administration not appropriately addressing the issues.

We have experienced the issues of bullying and physical abuse from other students. As a matter of fact, Aquan was one of the boys who always defended my son and he was a very good friend of my son's.

We are incredibly shocked and saddened by this. It is an incredible loss to all who knew him and could have known him.

They're not releasing enough information at this point to draw any conclusions. As this doesn't seem to be a noose-style hanging and the authorities are saying it "wasn't an act of foul play,"(1) I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

To me it sounds like a hazing gone bad. Boys will be boys, and that includes picking on other boys. Just from what I've heard, it was probably a matter of some kids knocking him around a bit and trying to humiliate him. Rather than a swirlie, they opted to hang him there by the back of his shirt/jacket...being young, they didn't realize what the consequences COULD be. While not exactly an "accident", I wouldn't consider it murder or intentional...

Another posibility happened a few months back. The boy was running, jumped, and got snagged on a coat-hook...

"A 7-year-old Texas boy found dead hanging from a hook in a school bathroom in February may have been playing a game called "run and jump", according to a police report. "

They really haven't released enough info to know what exactly happened....

I think that while unintentional, the perps cannot be let off the hook by anything but their age.

This possibility must be discussed wherever ther are boys of any age, and coat hooks. Knowledge may save a kid fr death by strangulation.

Boys are idiots, so knowing this, school admin. must be proactive.

NOT AN ACCIDENT! If the people involved in the investigation are correct, this was not an accident.

Is somebody here trying to divert attention from the obvious responsibility of school personnel and in particular from the teacher who had scolded this boy, and even though he knew that the boy was going to hang himself did nothing?

Teachers can sometimes be vicious.

From the Chicago Tribune:

The boy found unresponsive in an Evanston school bathroom committed suicide after telling a teacher who scolded him that he would hang himself, a source close to the investigation said today.

i find it hard to beleive a 10-year-old boy would commit suicide under any condition, and i do suspect some sort of foul play. first off, to memy, i was wondering about something, and you seem to have helped. i'm refering to the coat hook height on the door of the stall. there is one other thing that bothers me (and i have no way of finding info on this) but if it was a 'suicide' as they claim, then shouldn't there be a report of a red spot on the back of the neck from jumping? now, before i get yelled at, i would like to say again that i do not think this was a suicide. another thing that bothers me is the way the school administration were so quiet and pushing everyone else to not say anything. and my last thought is the time he was found. i've heard that he was found around 3, which would mean that either he never showed up for gym (which should've been noticed if they take attendance at the beginning of the class), or he did show up, but had to go back in for some reason. with all this info i have come to the following conclusion: he was put up on the hook by 2 fellow classmate. the fact that the adminstration isn't saying much leads me to believe that one or both classmates might be a kid of a faculty member or they are good friends with the higher admin. if anyone has any questions that they would like to ask me about my answer, reply and i will reply with my address.
