Mike Homer earned a B.S. from the University of California at Berkeley.
However, he began collegiate career at San Francisco State University. "I
did well at school, but I was sort of an underachiever. I was pretty bored
a lot of the time," he remembers. Although he cut most classes, he found
himself drawn to a computer-programming course. After a transfer to UC
Berkeley, he indulged his geek tendencies while majoring in business. That
led to a job programming IBM systems and eventually to Apple, a customer
of the small company where he worked.
