Are these South Carolina pot smokers victims of Michael Phelps fame?

South Carolina deputies have been rounding up anybody they can find that was at the same party as Michael Phelps. Do you think the cops really want to be spending their time dealing with the legalities surrounding arresting and jailing these kids? Or are they victims of a renegade sheriff looking for attention. (bonus question: were there any bigger crimes going on in South Carolina while time was wasted on these kids?

Jay walking is a bigger problem (seriously, it's more dangerous) than a few kids who made a mistake but who ultimately just smoked pot at a party.

This should be a complete non-issue, so I blame the sheriff for obviously looking for attention. The country is in economic woes, and I think the police should spend tax payer money keeping us safe and helping us out; as opposed to wasting their time with these fools.

on the bright side, at least the cops are singling out white kids unfairly now instead of only black kids. we are the change!

If they had not have arrested them there would have been just as big an outcry that they were selectively enforcing the law. I think the police probably HAD to make arrests or at least look like they were looking into the incident.
