Israel may not control every projectile that is emitted from Gaza, but they control just about everything else. Water, electricity, fuel, food, medicine, you name it and Israel controls it.

The fighting (I would hardly call it a genocide) will subside when Israel wants it to. Israel will eventually reopen the border crossings and recall its troops from Gaza and that is when this battle will officially be considered over.

No doubt there will still be rocket attacks after this point, but they have been going on for years. The same goes for suicide bombers and other terrorist activities. There will be isolated incidents, but the "war" that is going on now will end soon.

Probably when the greater force annihilates the lesser force.

Israel has U.S. weapons technology (procured by both legitimate and illegitimate means), the Merkava tank, state-of-the-art infantry and weaponry, and nuclear missiles. Palestinians have rockets, bulldozers, AK-47s, rocks, and religious fanatics willing to die for "the cause".

The lesser force will likely lose, when that happens the fighting will end.

This would be disastrous for Israel. Neither side is in a position to get out of the tangle by force. The consequences of escalation beyond reason are high for both parties. Just like with the IRA, the violence will continue until both sides tire enough to sit like rational human beings and talk.

When Hamas agrees to reinstate the truce and stops firing rockets and mortars at Israeli towns, Israel will resume the truce.
