From the News Now Network:
Slippery roads may be to blame for a weekend car crash that claimed the life of a Youngstown teenager. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 17 year old, Alyssa Emrich, was killed when she lost control of her car while traveling on Route 11 in Vienna. The accident happened just before seven o’clock on Sunday night. Police say Emrich went through the median and hit another vehicle head-on. The driver and a passenger in that car were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
From Vindy.com:
VIENNA — A 17-year-old Youngstown girl was killed Sunday night in a crash on state Route 11 as area roads turned icy. Alyssa Emrich died at the scene after her car slid through the meridian near King Graves Road in Vienna Township about 7 p.m. Her car was struck by an ambulance headed in the other direction, the state highway patrol said.
From Tribtoday:
Light snow and freezing temperatures Sunday evening proved to be a dangerous mix on area roads as numerous crashes were reported, including a fatality on state Route 11. The Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Alyssa Emrich, 17, of Youngstown, died after her 1989 Mercury Cougar collided head-on with a Johnston Township ambulance just before 7 p.m. The crash occurred on state Route 11 in the area of King Graves Road. The patrol said Emrich was traveling south on Route 11 when she lost control, traveled through the median and struck the northbound ambulance head-on. The ambulance continued north a short distance before landing on its left side facing south, while Emrich's car came to rest in a ditch. Emrich was pronounced dead at the scene. The ambulance driver, Jessica Gardener, 30, of Farmdale, and a passenger were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center with non-life threatening injuries, the patrol said.

They said head on collision, squad on it's side, other vehicle on fire, heavy entrapment.
There were several other accidents in the area at that time, the roads were untreated and the black ice caught everyone by surprise.
This was just a tragedy, my heart and sympathy goes out to her family and friends.

So far, only slippery road conditions explain the accident.

I heard the 911 call come in on the police scanner. They said head on collision, squad on it's side, other vehicle on fire, heavy entrapment.
There were several other accidents in the area at that time, the roads were untreated and the black ice caught everyone by surprise.
This was just a tragedy, my heart and sympathy goes out to her family and friends.
