Yes. Maple kidnapped his grandchildren 20 years ago and raised them in California under the names Jennifer and Jonathan Bunting. This recently came to light after Maple was finally apprehended for the crime.

Apparently, Maple and his wife Sandra originally charge the childrens parents with sexually and physically abusing the children and were given temporary custody. After the courts could find no evidence of the abuse, Maple and Sandra were ordered to give the children back, which is when they fled.
