How to Make Christmas Ornaments from Pinecones
It includes making pinecone people. I did this for my dad one year, and he still has them sitting on his desk a little four-person pinecone family, with the dad wearing a Hawaiian shirt and the oldest 'kid' wearing a little mini-pair of glasses. The were cute.
You can also buy some liquid potpourri and soak the pinecones in that, or maybe some essential oils that you really like the scent of, and let them soak overnight, or boil the scent with the pinecones and then let them dry. You have some awesome scented pincones to toss in the fireplace. I love to hear pinecones pop and sizzle when they burn, and the scent will fill the house. Cinnamon is my favorite. You could soak them and then put them in a nice basket and give them as gifts to someone with a fireplace, if you don't have one.
Then you can just do ordinary ornaments, spray glue and some glitter, paint them bright colors, hang them on the tree, make a pinecone wreath to give as a gift or hang on the front door.
Pinecones are awesome! My grandmother used to walk around and pick them up and save boxes and boxes of them and give them to me to make stuff with!

You can also make angels out of them. Here are some different angel patterns I have used that can be found on the following website below.

-soak them in warm, dish-soapy water for 20 minutes (repeating as necessary if they still feel sticky after first soak) lay out on papertowels to dry - this will leave your pinecones clean but dull
-back them in the oven at 200 degrees in a foil lined pan for about 20 minutes (be sure not to leave kitchen as this can be dangerous if forgotten) - this will melt the sap and leave the pinecones looking slightly glazed

When I was a kid, one year, when my parents had a rule that all decorations had to be home made and I was feeling lazy, I went out and gathered a pile of cones just glued on some thread tied to a hook, and when time came for each of us kids to come out with our decorations and show what we'd done, I marched out of my room and started hanging mine up, and I made a show out of standing back and looking at them and rubbing my chin and saying, "Hmm... doesn't quite look natural enough...", and I'd make an adjustment.
My parents both gave me that same old look of frustration and disgust, but my paternal grandparents were visiting, and my grandpa, who watched the whole thing puffing on his pipe, started chuckling, and finally was heaving with laughter, so he liked it.
But seriously, what's easy is to spray paint them, or dunk them in paint, and roll them in sparkles.

For a simple use of pinecones during christmas, just put them in a large fancy bowl, with some oranments and/or clippings. You can put the bowl up on a table or on the floor. You can even put the bowl outside, next to the front door.

After forming your grapevine in a wreath shape, you take crafting wire(very small wire) and attach all of your decorations with it. You can scent the pinecones in cinnamon or other fragrances if you would like. I also like the long pinecone garlands that you can make for a mantel for your fireplace as well.
Both of these are beautiful decorations for anyones Christmas !! Have fun and enjoy your crafting ideas this Christmas.

We didn't do them quite like this but it is the closest I can come to describe them. T prep the bird feeder, tie ribbon around the cone so you can hang it from the tree or a post close to the senior's house.
For our bird feeders, we coated the pinecones in peanut butter. It is easier to do if you melt the peanut butter some or mix with a bit of smooth margarine. It works best on cones where the pieces are open up, not tight to the cone. Spread the peanut butter or dip the cone in it. Next roll the cone in birdseed. For areas where the seed did not stick, add more peanut butter and dip in the seed again.
We packaged these a couple to a shoe box, and wrapped and delivered to the elderly home. We then hung them where they wanted so they could see the birds each day.
It was a fun project and a great way to share with our elders.

How can I use pinecones for Christmas crafts?
I have ahuge bag (one of those like comforters come in) full of pine cones of various sizes and shapes. What sort of crafts can I make with them? Tell me how to make your favorite pine cone craft, and if I make it I'll give you a link when I post a "how-to" article on another site. Thanks!

My mom made a garland out of pine cones when I was young. I remember her using utility wire and it was beautiful!

I make Christmas Trees out of them. You need to paint the pinecone with green acrylic paint, add glitter while paint is still wait and let dry. I buy small round red and green beads and glue them on. I take a small woodsie and paint it yellow and hot glue it to the top of the pinecone. I use a bottle cap for the stand by glueing to the bottom and wrapping it with ribbon or floral tape. You can also use ribbon roses instead of small beads for a different look. You can also make angels out of them. Here are some different angel patterns I have used that can be found on the following website below.

You can create a Christmas tree from pinecones. Roll the pinecone in a light coating of glue and then roll it in sparkles (color is your choice but gold or silver is best). The sparkes are them the garland on the Christmas Tree. You can then glue sequence or beads on the ends of the pinecone as ornaments. Of course, at the end glue a small star (available at craft stores) to the top. Once your pinecone Christmas Tree is done afix a ribbon to the top and you have a Christmas Tree ornament for your Christmas Tree. Have Fun and Good Luck!!!

Before crafting with pinecones, you should first clean them in one of two ways. To clean them you can: -soak them in warm, dish-soapy water for 20 minutes (repeating as necessary if they still feel sticky after first soak) lay out on papertowels to dry - this will leave your pinecones clean but dull
-back them in the oven at 200 degrees in a foil lined pan for about 20 minutes (be sure not to leave kitchen as this can be dangerous if forgotten) - this will melt the sap and leave the pinecones looking slightly glazed

This is a side story, and probably isn't really going to help with your question, but I can't help how it reminds me of something...

You can make a pinecone christmas tree: first spray paint a bunch of pinecones white and splash flashy glittery sprinkle "dust" on the wet painted pinecones. Then glue them together in the shape of a christmas tree and add a fancy ornament to the top. For a simple use of pinecones during christmas, just put them in a large fancy bowl, with some oranments and/or clippings. You can put the bowl up on a table or on the floor. Pinecone decorating can be very fun and can make your rooms smell wonderful. After cleaning them you can do several things with them. My favorite would have to be the wreath made from grapevine, pinecones, minature lights and ribbon. After forming your grapevine in a wreath shape, you take crafting wire(very small wire) and attach all of your decorations with it. You can scent the pinecones in cinnamon or other fragrances if you would like. I also like the long pinecone garlands that you can make for a mantel for your fireplace as well.
