Could teenagers take normal flu tablets to recover if they have Swine Flu? Or what should they do if they don't see a doctor?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The two medicines that have been found to help against this H1N1 virus (it's not actually real swine flu but something new) are both prescription drugs that you'll need to see a doctor to get.
And for any medication, make sure you take it exactly as the doctor says. If it says 10 days, take it all 10 days. Many people quit taking their medication when they start feeling better, with the result that they spread their infection to more people, and the germ becomes resistant to the medication because it was never really wiped out by it.

M$They should find different parents who will take good care of them.
There is no home remedy for swine flu. Only two drugs are approved by the FDA for treatment (because none of the others show any effectiveness).
The drugs are only available under prescription for very specific purposes. You can't buy them over the counter or over the internet.
They require 5-10 days of treatment (sometimes longer). One is inhaled, the other is in pill form.

M$The comment about the parents is not particularly helpful. Given the state of the nations health insurance coverage and the economic downturn, many people cannot afford to go to the doctor. There could be many reasons why a person cannot see a doctor, the above is just one.
I thought we were speaking in hypotheticals here. Not sure how someone could be diagnosed with swine flu without seeing a personal physician or emergency room doctor....it won't happen in the U.S.
At that point, there is a level of medical care to provide the necessary medications.
If you can't afford care there are ways to get help. Saying, "I can't afford medical insurance" is not a valid reason to _not_ get necessary medical care.
I was listed on the county rolls for indigent residents. Full-time student making $6K/yr living in an empty office space. The county paid for my medical care, medicing, and an ambulance ride when I was hit by a automobile.
I got the care I needed and asked the hospital how to get help paying for it.
Heck, even the cardboard splint and ice pack at the accident scene cost more money than I had in my bank account.
So...yes, a bit tongue-in-cheek...but I'm not speaking from ignorance.
I know what it's like to be hungry.
