Here is my family's favorite cookie recipe that only comes out during holidays. Not so sure it would win a contest but a lot of bickering has been caused by these sweets about who got the last one.

#3 cups flour
#2 cups sugar
#1 tsp salt
#2 tsp baking soda
#1/2 cup cocoa powder (I use dark chocolate powder so the chocolate taste is stronger)
#3/4 cup vegetable oil
#2 Tbsp vinegar
#2 tsp vanilla (the real vanilla extract is the only way to go with these)
#1 12 oz bag of white chocolate chips
#1 cup broken macadamian nuts

#1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting prior to baking (optional)

Mix the dry ingredients together and make a well in the center. Add the liquids and stir until well mixed. Add the nuts and white chocolate. Form into balls and roll in the powdered sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes. These come out of the oven soft and remain chewy when cooled.

The best way to test the baking time is to make the dough, bake one cookie for 8 minutes and check the texture when it is cooled. Decrease or increase the baking time as desired.

My aunt does not like the powdered sugar on them and just drops them on the cookie sheet.

What is the contest for, if you don't mind me asking.

We always just called them white chocolate macadamian. My grandmother made them for years and then my mother and now me. Judging from the way the kids eat them when they are made, I am sure they will be making these cookies someday too.

Orange Slice Cookies

These are really sweet and perfect for Christmas, since orange slices are a traditional holiday candy. Plus they are something different.

You might try a candy bar cookie. There are a wide variety of candy bars that work well in cook recipes. The recipe below lists Snickers or Milky Way.
SNICKERS® BAR COOKIES

Cookie Bars made with SNICKERS® Brand Bars.

1 c. sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. soft butter
1 c. peanut butter
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

20 SNICKERS® or MILKY WAY®s fun size bars, cut in half (1/2 per cookie)

Shape dough around each candy, cover completely. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 13 to 16 minutes.
Makes 40 cookies.

My finishing touch would be to place a stencil over the cookie and then sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Hope this works for you!
