What are your New Year's Day food traditions?

I know some people have traditional foods they eat on New Year's Day, usually for luck in the New Year. I always make pigeon peas and rice. How about you? Cheers to 2009!

Pork and Cabbage. Not sure why my parents always did it something about good luck and money in the new year.

Being from the south, we always had black-eyed-peas and ham. I always heard, even as a young child, that you would be rewarded a dollar in the new year for every black-eyed-pea that you ate on New Year's day, so needless to say, I ate my share and more. It helps that I love black eyed peas!!!

It doesn't have any real logic, but my family would always buy a bunch of finger-food type stuff. In one night we'd have Pizza rolls, cheese sticks, hot wings, filled potato skins, cheesy breadsticks, taquitos, and any other finger food we could find and cook in the oven.

I think the real reason that it was a splurge for us. We were poor and couldn't really go out to eat so that was my parents treat for us.
