It's tough to go wrong with a good chicken wing... so this year, I'm going to make 3 different kinds.

I also like to get everything ready for people to make their own personal sized pizzas. I find that this works better for my group of picky & sickly friends than making a large on

I just prepare and place all of the ingredients on the counter beside my oven and let people load up their own toppings. This also works well to keep any kids who might be present busy. The kids like to take orders and make the pizzas for everyone.

Oh my goodness, these are amazing; I used light cream cheese and turkey bacon to cut the calories and fat a bit, but they were still so so delicious. I would definitely recommend these.

You can add a layer of cream cheese (no joke) for massive effect.

One of my favorites is a hot cheese dip that is baked and served in a bread bowl. The basic recipe is as follows, and you can substitute as needed or wanted depending on likes, dislikes or food allergies:
1 large round loaf of bread
2 packages cream cheese
1 bunch scallions
1 shallot
1 clove of garlic
1 package shredded cheese (2 cups)
4 strips bacon cooked, drained and crumbled (I sometimes used pre-cooked bacon)
Bacon salt (optional)
Chips, crackers, or small bread squares for dipping.
Preheat oven to 350.
Cut top off bread. Scoop out insides as if you were making a jack-o-lantern to make a bread bowl. Use insides for dippers. Keep the top as a lid. You can cut off the non crust side on the "bottom" of the lid to make it more level and use the scraps for dippers if you want.
Mix all ingredients together. Smoosh into bread. Put the top of the bread back on top. Cover with foil and bake for about 30 minutes. When the cheese gets gooey, you're done.
Serve with chips, crackers or bread rounds. Eventually you can use the top and sides of the bread bowl as dippers, but you need other dippers to start.
I also like one large course, a party staple that can feed a crowd, made in advance and keep for several hours. If I've got more than 5 people coming over for sports, I almost always do a pot of chili. I keep it mild, but provide toppings and spice for those who want to kick it up a notch.
I've also had great luck making a crustless Shepherd's pie in a 9X13 baking dish. If you can get lamb it's better, but you brown whatever ground meat you've got (2 pounds or so)with some tomato sauce and a chopped onion. Add a bag of frozen California style veggies (small dice). Sprinkle with cheese, top with instant mashed potatoes and more cheese. Cover with tinfoil, hold in fridge till guests arrive Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or so, checking after 30. It's all cooked already so just needs to warm up until it is nice and piping hot. The layer of mashed potatoes acts like an insulator, and since it's in a big baking dish it retains a lot of heat for a good long time.

Shepherd's pie idea comes from a good friend of mine, refined by another friend who is a true Irishman, and scaled up and simplified by me for use with a crowd.

Last year I wanted cream cheese stuffed jalapenos really bad for the Super Bowl, but I didn't want to buy the boxed breaded ones, so I searched online and found this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Stuffed-Jalapenos-III/Detail.aspx

This isn't as much a recipe, as an idea. What I like to do is get a bunch of different kinds of sliced meat (chicken, turkey, ham, roast beef, etc.) and then a bunch of sliced cheese (cheddar, colby, mozzarella, etc.) and anything else you might want for sandwiches and lay that out on a little table. Then you also have a bunch of different sandwich breads and you have a serve-yourself sandwich dinner so you can eat at will for the super bowl
