HEMP MILK
Ingredients:
1/4 cup shelled hempseeds
1 cup water
flavorings (vanilla, maple syrup or honey)
Directions:
Place seeds into a blender and add small amount of water 1 inch above the seeds. Turn blender on at multiple speeds and agitate seeds so they become a thick hemp cream.
Then add either vanilla, maple syrup or honey or only a ripe banana and serve as a thick drink or add water at a ratio of 4.75 water to 1 part seed for a lighter hemp milk.
A great alternative to soy milk without the throwaway aseptic containers.

Raw Vanilla Almond Milk
1 cup soaked almonds
(Soak in a bowl in the refrigerator overnight and rinse before using)
3 cups water
1 vanilla bean, seeds scooped out
3-5 soft pitted dates (or soak hard dates in water for 1/2 hour) or
other sweetener to taste such as honey or stevia
To make raw almond milk blend the soaked almonds with the water until smooth. Then strain the mixture through a sprout bag, cheesecloth, or strainer into a big bowl. Save the almond pulp in a container and put in the refrigerator for later use.
Put the almond milk back into the blender carafe and blend in the vanilla seeds and dates or other sweetener until smooth. This milk will last in the refrigerator for about 3-5 days. Shake well before using. Variation: Blend in a banana and use a pinch of nutmeg to make a festive rawnog.

For almond milk, you take raw, blanched, skins-removed almonds and blend them in a blender with pure water. You can add vanilla extract for flavor or leave it plain. As far as I know, that's it. I'm stating this from memory from about 10 years ago when I tried it myself.

The general formula is: base, ground into a powder/cream, then add water or other additives. How much water you add determines the density of the beverage. Common additives are things like Vanilla, Honey, Maple syrup, and others both for taste and nutritional value. In the case of rice milk, it is usually unnecessary to add flavoring. It's also a great formula for masking an unwanted taste in a protein powder or crushed up vitamin. The only way to find what you like is to try it!
