Since my boyfriend has to work on Thanksgiving, we have a quick to fix meal on Thanksgiving. This doesn't mean the food is of a lower quality though. Quite the contrary. This year, we're ordering a Turducken from Louisiana along with cornbread dressing. For dessert we'll be ordering a cheesecake from Junior's in New York. Then all we have to do is make some mashed potatoes, heat up some rolls, and enjoy. I suspect it will be much better than last year when we went to Ryan's Steakhouse, which turned out to be a huge disappointment. If you're busy on Thanksgiving, skip the quick buffet restaurants and order quick to fix gourmet foods instead. Your taste buds will thank you.

My son, daughter-in-law, and only grandkids will fly in from Kansas to Florida; and we will all get together for a few days at my daughter's.
Now there is extended family to include with my daughter-in-law's brother and his wife, my son-in-law's sister and mother, a few neighbors, etc. -- so our family dinners continue to grow!!!
We will have the traditional turkey dinner, and I will add to that a very good Cranberry-Tropical Fruit Relish that I will make ahead of time. It is much tastier than cranberry sauce out of a can.
I may even make cookies using a brownie mix -- just tried doing that for a Halloween party, and they were very good and much quicker because you don't have to cut and dig out all those brownies!!!

Have you planned your thanksgiving menu? If so, what do you have planned, or will you be eating out, or eating elsewhere away from home?

I'm excited about thanksgiving this year, I will be hosting big vegan thanksgiving feast. I will be making everything in this vegan thanksgiving blog called the veganyumyum. Check it out, why not have a healthy/animal friendly thanksgiving this year? Even if you are not vegetarian or vegan it might be a nice tradition to do every year.

Our menu is tailored to suit the family as a whole. But as a rule the menu always includes turkey breast, baked ham, mashed potatoes with turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, candied yams, banana bread, green beans, deviled eggs, cornbread stuffing, and pumpkin pie. This way since our family is fairly large it ensures there are dishes everyone will like eating. We always eat at home for thanksgiving, as it is the one time of the year when the whole family gets together.
