1) Start with good beef
I purchase a full side of beef once a year. As a result, I have a good amount of high quality ground beef.
When I purchased my meat from a supermarket, I would buy high quality steaks when they were marked down or on sale. Then, I would grind the meat at home. This resulted in high quality beef.
2) Buy or make good buns
More than half of a burger is in the bun. The best burgers always have great buns. To me, a bun should be almost creamy and exceptionally fresh. Using my breadmaker, I make simple rolls with a bit of fresh rosemary. The rosemary adds a great deal to the hamburger buns.
3) Clean and simple preperation
It's very important to keep your hamburger cold when you're preparing the burgers. Here's what I use:
1 lb of hamburger yields about 4 hamburgers
1 clove roasted garlic, chilled
1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
1 raw egg
Salt & pepper
Quickly mix all of these things together in a cool large steel bowl. Don't over mix. Once the garlic looks like it's blended, stop and put the mix back in the fridge to cool for 30 min.
Form the burgers. I cut 4 pieces of plastic wrap and place equal parts of the hamburger in each square. Gather the plastic wrap into a ball and gently press the plastic wrap hamburger ball into a patty. The little air pockets in the burger make it tasty so don't press too much or worry about perfectly round burgers.
When you're ready to cook, unwrap the burgers. Salt (a little more than you think you should) and pepper both sides. Pat them with a little extra virgin olive oil and put them on a hot grill.
Easy, cheap and good.

Kids usually like it, so if you have children you may like to try this one.
What you need:
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (or pizza blend)
4 hamburger buns, split
1 (14 ounce) can pizza sauce
2 ounces sliced pepperoni
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Heat a large skillet over medium heat then add the ground beef and Italian sausage; cook, stirring until no longer pink.
Drain off the grease and stir in the pizza sauce.
Make a layer of hamburger bun halves in the bottom of a 9 inch square baking dish. Top with half of the meat sauce and half of the cheese. Arrange half of the pepperoni slices on top of the layer.
Repeat the layers, ending up with cheese and pepperoni on top.
Bake uncovered for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the cheese starts to brown.

Ingredients:
1 (3 1/2-ounce) bag boil-in-bag long-grain rice
4 medium red bell peppers
3/4 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups bottled tomato-and-basil pasta sauce (such as Classico)
1/2 cup (2 ounces) grated fresh Parmesan cheese
Cooking spray
Preparation
Preheat oven to 450°.
Cook rice according to package directions, omitting salt and fat. Set aside.
While rice cooks, cut tops off bell peppers. Discard seeds and membranes. Place peppers, cut sides down, in an 8-inch square baking dish; cover with plastic wrap. Microwave at high 2 minutes or until peppers are crisp-tender. Sometimes I find that it takes longer in the microwave. Set aside.
Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef and the next 4 ingredients (beef through salt); cook 4 minutes or until beef is lightly browned, stirring to crumble. Remove from heat. Add rice, pasta sauce, and cheese to beef mixture, stirring to combine.
Spoon beef mixture into each pepper, dividing roughly evenly. Place peppers in a 2-quart baking dish coated with cooking spray. Cover with foil.
Bake at 450° for 20 minutes. Uncover; bake an additional 5 minutes or until lightly browned.
I'm including a picture. It looks slightly different because of my recipe modifications including not saving the top of the pepper as a garnish because it's useless and not separately mixing sauce and wine to pour on top/in the pan - it was time consuming and didn't taste good.

From your question, it seems like the recipe doesn't literally have to be for hamburgers but rather something relatively easy that uses hamburger meat. One of my favorites which is easy to make are stuffed peppers. This is a healthy recipe that's fairly quick because the peppers are pre-cooked in the microwave. Also, boil-in-bag rice makes that preparation quick as there's no measuring involved. Ingredients:
1 (3 1/2-ounce) bag boil-in-bag long-grain rice
4 medium red bell peppers
3/4 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups bottled tomato-and-basil pasta sauce (such as Classico)
1/2 cup (2 ounces) grated fresh Parmesan cheese
Cooking spray
Preparation
Preheat oven to 450°.
Cook rice according to package directions, omitting salt and fat. Set aside.
While rice cooks, cut tops off bell peppers. Discard seeds and membranes. Place peppers, cut sides down, in an 8-inch square baking dish; cover with plastic wrap. Microwave at high 2 minutes or until peppers are crisp-tender. Sometimes I find that it takes longer in the microwave. Set aside.
