Would you pay $359 for a reading Kindle, if the avg eBook cost less than 10 dollars?
Oprah Winfrey said, "I know it's expensive in these times, but it's not frivolous because it will pay for itself," she said, according to her Web site. "The books are much cheaper, and you're saving paper." All books are $9.99 or less on Amazon.

No, not at the price. I frequent Half Price Books, so I don't pay $10 per book to start with.
I'm all about portability and versatility, which conventional books are. What I'm really wanting will combine phone, camera, camcorder, Kindle, MP3, scanner, voice recording and laptop capabilities and be pretty small (not like a tablet--more like a smartphone of some sort). We're pretty close to having all that in one tiny handheld device. That's what I'd pay more money for. And I'd load onto it all kinds of ebooks I already own.

i wouldn't, i simply don't read enough books per year. i might pay $99 for it.
No, I would buy a book.
Less flashy.
Less flashy.
Considering how much I spend on cable each month, how could I not think paying $359 for a Kindle that will last for several years is a good idea. I haven't bought one yet, but would like to. I am not a very fast reader, but if I read one book every 10 days, 35 books a year, saving approximately $10 for each book if they are best sellers, that is $350 saved in year one, almost a 1-year return on investment.
I would wait until the price of the Kindle goes down a little. There is no reason for this item to cost this much to begin. They should also include a few books for that price, which I do not believe they do. I do not currently read enough books for the current price that the gadget. The Kindle seems like it's a gadget for geeks or professional readers. They should give these away for free with purchase of books, or charge $149 for it, as this way more people would be able to afford it. I'm a fan of Oprah, yet she is a voracious reader, and likewise she's been publicized as a billionaire. So, $359 for a Kindle is not an expensive toy for her.
No. Not until the book prices go down. I buy more in paperback than in hardcover. As such the cost per book would increase, since the equivalent paperback prices are about the same price and sometimes more expensive, unless I am looking for an older book (taking into consideration the cost of books at warehouse shoes, chains, and bookseller discount cards).
Definitely not. I do read a lot, but I think I'll do my "saving paper" duties by buying used books until the price goes down. Way down.
