Escort Radar without question leads the industry in technology and their Passport 9500IX with GPS technology is no question the best windshield mounted detector available. It alerts to all radar, laser, red light, and speed cameras plus verified common speed trap locations. Also it's ability to automatically mute all false radar alarms is a godsend. With all of the 9500ix's high-tech wizardry it is astoundingly easy to use too, truly a plug-and-play device. It even has a speed display so you dont have to keep looking back at your speedo and the detector when it's alerting. The camera database is updateable through their website and they have been updating it weekly (that shows you how fast those revenue robots are popping up).

The V1 detects radar great, but that is all it does (OK the lights tell you if radar is ahead, beside or behind you...) The V1 also false alerts constantly in town, more than any detector I have ever used. It offers no camera alerts either which are springing up everywhere.

As for laser, all Escort Passport and Beltronics windshield mounted detectors are capable of being integrated with their ZR4 Laser Defense System which actively shifts (jams) laser signals for an all-in-one radar and laser solution. I use a ZR4 and can testify for it's effectiveness. Many people think it is illegal but Laser light is not governed by the FCC so jamming laser is federally legal (as opposed to radar jamming) however some states will give you a ticket for having anything that keeps police from measuring your speed. Just be sure to double tap the mute button once you check your speed. This deactivates the laser jammer temporarily and allows the police to get a speed reading so that you don't draw too much attention to your "stealth fighter". It has worked great for me in every instance.

They are expensive but not as much as getting a ticket today, especially when your insurance company finds out!

Review from ConsumerSearch.
Reasons to buy Escort 9500i
"Escort 9500i offers more features, including GPS, which allows the unit to remember where it has encountered repeated false alarms (from garage-door openers, motion sensors, etc.). This ability, coupled with the

Escort 9500i's excellent false-alert filtering, results in far fewer false alarms than many radar detectors. The Escort 9500i also lets drivers record the locations of speed traps and traffic enforcement cameras, and then issues reminders when you enter those zones."

Est. cost: $425

It really doesn't matter which one you get. Both do an excellent job of detecting actual RADAR. The problem is a lot of departments are switching to laser.

Both will detect laser but it does you absolutely no good. The reason is if you can detect laser your already caught. It's line of sight and instant read.

Good Luck!

Did my own research a while back. Lots of good sites for these.
