In the past, I've bought all the requisite plug adapters and they worked for my laptop and cell phone charger. Probably gets complicated once you start lugging a refrigerator or air conditioner around with you, but for basic gadgets this should do the trick.

Unless you're using complicated or how-powered electronics, there shouldn't be much of a difference between a complicated adapter kit and something you can grab from Radio Shack. In the past, I've bought all the requisite plug adapters and they worked for my laptop and cell phone charger. Probably gets complicated once you start lugging a refrigerator or air conditioner around with you, but for basic gadgets this should do the trick.

If cost isn't an issue and you like traveling in a little style, I would go with the Tumi power adapter kit. That's the company that specializes in luggage, purses and wallets, but they're getting into small products like this now and it looks good.
