There are no pre-drilled holes in the tv's back what do I do?

There are four marked areas but there are no pre-drilled holes. I am afraid to punch or drill the places. What is the recommended method?

You should definitely check the manual that came with your TV, but usually they come with little nubs or screws in the places where the mounting holes are. Once you find those, just remove them and your pre-drilled mounting holes should be there.
