neither...I try to buy products from as local to my home as possible, always good to avoid things that have to be shipped around the world when almost everything is most likely made in your area.

Although generally I compare prices and not assembly plant location information, I would normally buy products from China because even products that don't last can usually be repaired. Japanese products at a higher cost wouldn't fit my lifestyle.

Japanese also come out with some crazy inventions, and I'd be worried some of their weirdness might be present in something I buy..
