Popularity check: Japanese products or Chinese products? Japan makes high cost but long lasting products but china is opposite.

Although generally I compare prices and not assembly plant location information, I would normally buy products from China because even products that don't last can usually be repaired. Japanese products at a higher cost wouldn't fit my lifestyle. Japanese also come out with some crazy inventions, and I'd be worried some of their weirdness might be present in something I buy..
