actually it is not the sim card but the phone.
you have to check what band GSM Tokyo uses.
then make sure the phone has that band.
If the phone will work on Tokyo GSM band, then you can purchase a sim card in tokyo. or use your philipine sim card(but you'll pay for roaming)

my wifes kids are coming to us from philippines ,what brand of prepaid sim card can they buy in the philippines that will also work in tokyi
need to purchase prepaid sim card that will give airtime in the philippines and at tokyo international airport as well
