If you're not gonna be able to use the 3G anyways, go for the iPod touch and get the 32gb version they already have available there. You would still be able to use the wifi in your house.
Since you could email from the touch you would still be able to text from it.

Don't go iPhone, stay with the touch.

Is an iPhone 3G worth getting?
Bearing in mind I'm in Ireland so I can't exactly make full use of the 3G features and I'd be getting the pre-pay version (€579 on o2, 16Gb I think).
Is it worth getting an iPhone though? How long does the warranty last and is texting infuriating on it? I have an 80GB iPod but I much prefer the interface of the Touch and Safari on it is ideal for my house. Combining devices would only be perfect because I'm always weighed down carrying the two. Do you think it's worth it? Will the price go down? Or will they eventually release a 32GB version? 16Gb seems quite small to me...
