The Kindle was the obvious choice for me. The built-in 3G connection allows you to shop the amazon store directly from the unit, and the ability to do light web browsing is perfect for keeping up with the news & weather even if it won't support your youtube habit. There's something very cool about watching Jon Stewart interview an author while thinking "that sounds cool" and having the book in your hand before the interview is over!
While the Sony supports more formats natively, with the freeware software Calibre I've been able to convert all of my old .lit ebooks without a hitch.
The print is clear, the battery life is excellent & it's comfortable. We got our first one for Xmas this year & now own three, if that gives you any idea of how happy we are with it as a family.
