My dad has one of these - got one just a few weeks ago, in fact. So far he seems to really like it (as in, I don't hear him grumbling about it - no grumbling is good news with my pop). I've been over to his house several times since he's had it up, and it must work well because the picture looks crystal clear to me. They're not that expensive, either - right around $35.

Be warned, if you're relying on them for the Sunday game, better to just make plans for the bar down the block.

Does the Radio Shack Amplified HDTV Antenna work? Thinking of getting one for my non-tech dad.

My neighbor did not want to get cable and the rabbit ears I loaned him, no longer worked after the cable switch. He went to Radio Shack and got a new antenna. I'm not 100% sure it is the same one, but it works okay for him. He just wanted to see his "stories".

Ha, I'm also a senior and didn't want fork over all that money each month for cable (I spend enough on internet and phone). I'm not sure which rabbit ears my kids' got for me, but it definitely came from Radio Shack. They're just as good as the old ones, before the switch from digital. Be warned, if you're relying on them for the Sunday game, better to just make plans for the bar down the block.

I don't have one, but I just did a little research and this looks like a winner to me. If your non-tech dad (are they all tech-challenged?) needs an upgrade from basic rabbit ears (which he does, I'm sure), this looks like a reasonably priced antenna to get. Easy to put up, too - just connect one cable to the TV set. Sweet!
