Can the Wii Fit be used as a scale to weigh packages for shipping/receiving?

The wii fit costs only 90 bucks, and most electronic scales out there cost 400+. Assuming the console is not required or you already have the console, could you theoretically use the Fit to weigh packages from 1.0lbs to 300.0 lbs with accuracy of 1/10th of a pound? Is the sale accurate enough to do so? Could it be hooked into a PC somehow to work with shipping software?

Is it possible - Yes. The software is the only barrier. Drivers for PC connectivity can certainly be developed. As well as an app to do anything you need for input/output or "measure/display".

So I am guessing the real question here is regarding the accuracy of the scale. I own a Wii Fit and I can say that it is accurate for its purpose, but that is about as far as I will go.

It is fairly safe to assume that the WiiFit is nowhere near as accurate as freight/industrial scales. Those scales have to meet extremely high standards set by NIST:

you know, I'm not the expert on this, but having a wii fit myself, it's not a sure bet that this is 100% accurate nor appropriate. When you want to get weighed, there's a series of mini tasks you have to complete first, and this might make it not worth your while. If you are in the business of shipping/receiving, this could possibly impact your professional reputation.
