Any suggestions on a decent PC laptop for around $1000?

As you have not specified the usage of the laptop, the recommendation below is for all-rounder laptop.

It has decent and latest CPU Intel Core 2 Duo P8400(2.26GHz). It has decent size screen (15.4") and fast enough with 4GB of system memory. The hard drive space is standard 320GB and comes with DVD burner. Finally, the video card is not the greatest but it should be sufficient to view standard definition video and other multimedia and basic gaming as it is a dedicated video card (512 MB of video memory - not shared with system memory).
