Best all-time game for the PC or Mac?

What do you think is the best game for the PC or Mac? Why?

I am voting for The Sims
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w194/Pentium_01/pentium/14683f5bf86877f1398ahm6.jpg

While I love The Sims 2 and am anxiously awaiting Sims 3, it was The Sims that created it all. I recall purchasing one of the expansion packs and the cashier telling me how he had to limit his play time to two hours a day. The game is good enough to get you addicted. Plus,it feeds into my God complex. I don't think I am God, but I do like to play him on occasion.

My vote is for Myst. It was a revolutionary game for its time. The interface was a complete departure from anything ever seen before. It was the best selling game game in history until 2002 when the Sims won out. Even the books that tell the tales behind the games are surprisingly well written and interesting ("Myst: The Book of Atrus," Myst: The Book of Tiana," "Myst: The Book of D'ni").

Besides the successful sequels, they've even ported Myst to PSP and Nintendo DS and are working on an iPhone version. This is a game that lives on. Few copies of games are still selling 16 years later.

Myst is great. Did you ever play Riven? I think it was a sequel.

Oh my, yes! I loved it! Really obscure clues, but a lot of fun.

I also played Myst III:Exile and Myst IV: Revelation.

I really hated Myst. The loading times were stupidly long and having the user randomly click everywhere is not a revolutionary interface. Myst is a trophy of the full motion video game era which thankfully died.

Well, regardless of whether you think the game was revolutionary, it was hailed by the gaming world as such. Obviously you are not a fan of it, or you would not identify playing the game as "randomly clicking." The fact remains that it was a complete departure from anything else being done back in 1993 and had a big impact on the gaming world, even being one of the "killer apps" that drove the CD market.

I am voting for World of Warcraft. It's for both the PC and Mac. It's the most widely played MMORPG ever. It's insanely fun and it's the one computer game I've ever played consistently and "seriously". I quit because of school but man it's great! It's on its third expansion right now.
And what can I say, it's so good that it had its own episode of South Park dedicated to it. I don't know if any other computer game can say that!

That game is too fun for it's own good! I had to quit because it was too time consuming.

Yes! The Sims 2. Where else can you have twins with green skin and pointy ears? The best part are the mods made by the users. Some of them inspired the expansion packs.
Have you ever stole the phone from the secret society? I brought it back home and resurrected the dog. Now, that is a god complex.

While The Sims is a very good game, you forget the game that preceded the sims and really started the whole ball rolling. I'm of course referring to Sim City
