1941's "The Maltese Falcon," one of the greatest movies ever made, was actually the 3rd film adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's novel and therefore counts as a remake.

The first one was also called "Maltese Falcon" and came out in 1931, and the second was titled "Satan Met a Lady," and featured a young Bette Davis.
Just goes to show, though people claim today's Hollywood is "out of ideas," remakes have pretty much always been a part of the film business.

What is your favorite movie remake?
Example:
Race to Witch Mountain

It isn't really a remake. More like a sequel; either way, Tia (Kim Richards) and Tony (Ike Eisenmann) are making a cameo in the movie

Ok, I like cheesy romance films, and Titanic takes the cake for me. Definitely better than the other versions out, but still has the cheese factor. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046435/ 1953 version
