They start out by looking for the worst play ever, and they are sure they have found it, but there is a twist to the plot...

A close second would be "History of the World, Part One." That was full of hilarious scenes - my personal favorite being early man discovering music. Great stuff.
Those of you who've mentioned "The Producers" have got me interested. I've never seen it, and now I'm going to have to go check it out, so thanks!

No Mel Brooks marathon would be complete without "The Producers", no not the 2005, but the 1968 version. Two producers decide that they will make more money with from a bad production that closes in one night. They start out by looking for the worst play ever, and they are sure they have found it, but there is a twist to the plot...

I have to agree with the librarian here. This was the first movie that Mel directed (and wrote) and he won an Oscar! (along with Gene Wilder for best supporting actor). "Hitler... there was a painter! He could paint an entire apartment in ONE afternoon! TWO coats!"

Just go to Costco and get the Mel Brooks box set for $35. It has Blazing Saddles, History of the world part 1, Young Frankenstein, Robbin hood men in tights, to be or not to be, silent movie, high anxiety, and the 12 chairs. then go to Target and get The (original) Producers and Spaceballs for around 5.99 each. Then you will have a great Mel Brooks collection to enjoy and laugh to

Young Frankenstein was his best. Blazing Saddles was second. http://tbn2.google.com/images?q=tbn:jaq-dmWR_-WoqM:http://www.gudlyf.com/media/young_frankenstein.jpg

"Blazing Saddles" is at the very top of my personal list, if only for the campfire farting. (Yes, I'm immature. But you have to admit that this scene was hilarious.) A close second would be "History of the World, Part One." That was full of hilarious scenes - my personal favorite being early man discovering music. Great stuff.
