Hot Tub Time Machine -- will this be John Cusack's career comeback?

Cusack has signed on to "Hot Tub Time Machine" with Craig Robinson and Rob Corddry. Will this mark his career comeback or will he just sink deeper?

I kinda doubt it. He's never going to shake away being one of those teen movie actors, and people will either typecast him for it, or ignore any acting he does.

It's a curse that very few actors ever get out of. And I seriously doubt this movie would help anyone involved.
Comedy movies with ridiculous concepts like this never really catch on.

But Hot Tub Time Machine "is" a teen-type movie, which might be what actually helps Cusack in the end.

I think that Cusack has a couple of good movies on the slate. Between Hot Tub Time Machine and 2012, things are looking hopeful.

While I'm not a big fan of his work, I liked him recently in 1408 and if he can stay away from scripts like War, Inc he stands a good chance of making a comeback.

Here's my favorite John Cusack interview:

Again agrees with this. I however am a fan of his work. I liked grosse point blank, must love dogs, and identitiy to name just a couple of his movies. I think these projects could help get him back into the lime light.

Wow, I must say, I wasn't aware that John Cusack was needing a comeback! I'm a big Cusack fan, and while many of his film choices are somewhat quirky and less mainstream, it appears that's exactly where he wants to be. If nothing else, this film may introduce him to a new audience.

I have never really liked John Cusack. Even in the '80s when he was all the rage, I was more interested in Andrew McCarthy (where did he go??) and Emilio Estevez.

I do think that Hot Tub Time Machine actually has the potential to boost Cusack's career because of the type of movie it is. It's going back to 1987, a time and place many Cusack fans can identify with, so it could definitely bode well for his career if the movie itself doesn't flop.

It will really depend on how well the script is written and what the director does with it. The other actors signed on to the film are some really great comedians, so the potential is definitely there.
