Major Charles Emerson Winchester III, M.D., is a fictional character, a principal on the television series, M*A*S*H, played by David Ogden Stiers.

He was brought in to replace Frank Burns during the 6th season.

He was from Boston.

He was one of two characters who played the straight man foil to Doctors Hawkeye and Pierce on M*A*S*H, the greatest TV comedy of all time. Frank Burns was the first, Charles was the second.
